Contagious MAX ScoNo runs from Friday 24th – Thursday 30th July 2026 at Giggleswick School, Settle, BD24 0DE.

Arrivals and Departures

Please aim to arrive at Giggleswick between 1515 and 1545 on Friday. Everyone arriving by car should initially park on ‘The Flat’, a large concrete area in front of the main building. When we will register you, collect your bags and then head down to the field for some welcome games. Tea and coffee will be available for parents.

On the Thursday please aim to pick up at 1300, and no later than 1330. Packed lunches will be available for young people to take with them. For collection please park in the car park on Raines Road and walk up to ‘The Flat’. We will have people providing directions on both days! 

If you are going to be later (or earlier!) than these times please send a message to Drummond (drummond.fyall@contagious.org.uk) and Carrie (carrie.trainer@contagious.org.uk) before the week or call/text them on 07376 093 837 on the day (this phone will only be in use during the week of Contagious).

ACCOMMODATION

Giggleswick School is a lovely boarding school with extensive grounds and some excellent spaces to relax. The dorms have between one and four beds with shared toilet / washing facilities. The girls will be in one large boarding house, and the boys in two smaller houses.

We are provided with three excellent meals a day with a range of options at each meal. There is a continental breakfast each day. We will have hot lunches with the exception of Monday (when we head into the local town with a packed lunch) and Thursday (when young people will be given a packed lunch for the journey home).

Bedding is provided by the school, but young people will need to bring their own towels.

What to bring

Below is a kit list to help with your packing. You are welcome to bring sports equipment, board games and musical equipment but please remember that these are brought at your own risk. Young people are allowed their own phones during the day, but we ask that they are not used during the teaching sessions.

Please do not bring any snacks with nuts as we have attendees with severe nut allergies.

• Bible (New International Version) – please bring a physical copy.
• Pens (we will provide a booklet for notes).
• Money for tuck and the book shop – please bring a bank card as we try and operate a cashless system.
• Medication
• A water bottle
• A towel (preferably two, one for slip and slide) – bedding is provided
• Swimming gear which can be worn under shorts and t-shirt  (for slip and slide)
• Old clothing suitable for potentially being dyed (for colour wars, you may want to bring a white t-shirt)
• Fancy dress for our Ceilidh on the final night – the theme this year is TRAVEL.
• Footwear suitable for a range of activities

Photographs and social media

We are hoping to take some general photos or videos during the week that may be used for publicity, uploaded on our website or shared on social media sites.

Mobile Phone policy

Young people at Contagious MAX may bring their phones to Contagious and use them throughout the day during breaks.  NO phones are to be used during teaching sessions unless as part of the activity or required. Phones should be switched off or on silent during teaching sessions and at other times all users should act responsibly to avoid distracting themselves and others from engaging with people and activities.  If any attendee of Contagious uses their phone in an inappropriate or immoral way then we reserve the right as leaders to confiscate the phone and return it to them at the end of the Conference.  Any illegal use of a phone will be reported.

Mobile phones will be collected in by leaders every night to help the young people rest well and will be returned in the morning. If they need anything in the night TEAM are always available and nearby.

MEDICAL, Pastoral and Dietary Information

If you wish to update anything less than six weeks before the conference please email admin@contagious.org.uk. This is because we often pull the relevant information for each Conference from the booking website around six weeks before the conference, and by emailing us we can make sure that the necessary people are notified.

All medication will be collected and stored by the Medical Officer – even if it will be self-administered (except creams, asthma inhalers and EpiPens). So please only pack medication they need (over the counter items such as paracetamol will be available from the Medical Supervisor if necessary).

FAQs

What does a typical day look like?

We have a busy morning so every Conference has a filling breakfast. After breakfast is our SUS group time. This is time in small groups studying the Bible together. The rest of the morning is spent in two Seminars with a break in the middle. Seminars are interactive sessions where we dig deeper into God’s word together, they are usually where we get to see the big picture of what the whole sweep of God’s word has to say about a subject. We then have lunch and afterwards it is into afternoon activities. The activities are usually split into two slots and are a mix of all-together activities and options. We then have dinner together. In the evening we have our Big Teaches. These are meetings that include games, singing, interviews and the reading and preaching of God’s word. A day at Contagious MAX then ends with some after hours activities (including toast O’clock!) before lights out at 2245.

How are young people kept safe at Contagious?

How can I be praying for Contagious? 

We would love it if you could be praying for us throughout the week! It is only through God’s word applied to the hearts of the young people through the Holy Spirit’s work that lives are changed. What is being taught at Contagious this year?

At Contagious MAX 2026 we are going to be looking at Proverbs: The way of Wisdom.
Proverbs invites us to listen to the words of wisdom from a father to his son, written to encourage youth to grow in wisdom. This summer we want to see lives shaped and changed as we listen to God’s wisdom for all of life. Proverbs is both poetic and practical. It is not just a series of moral sayings but is a story that is filled with rich truths and points us forward to Christ.
