Dates

Saturday 22nd August – Friday 28th August  

Arrivals and Departures

Please arrive between 2:00pm and 3:15pm. If you are going to be later than this please email Sophie.luckett@contagious.org.uk in the weeks before or message her on the day (her phone number will be available in an email sent to parents).

The details of getting to the venue and directions will be included in the final email prior to camp.  

Parents are invited to join is from 11:30am for our final meeting. This will include an overview of the teaching we have heard, highlights from the week and a performance of our memory verse. Following the meeting the young people will all be given a packed lunch; you are free to take your young person home at this point, or you are very welcome to bring a packed lunch with you to eat with your young person and the rest of GO East. When you leave, please make sure you tell the GO East leader who is checking young people out that you are going.  

If you cannot make the final meeting, young people need to be collected between 12:45 -1:30pm. If there are any problems, please contact Sophie Luckett.  

accommodation

Bedding will be provided in our boarding house. Please bring towels with you.

What to bring

• Clothing appropriate for a range of weather and activities 
• Shoes including those suitable for running/activities 
• Indoor shoes or slippers  
• Bible (We will be teaching from the New International Version) 
• Pens (young people will be provided with their own teaching booklets for writing notes in) 
• Clothing suitable for water games 
• Old clothing suitable for potentially being dyed (for colour wars, you may want to bring a white t-shirt) 
• We will be having our Go East’s Got Talent competition, please pack anything your young person may need for this.  
• We are having a carnival themed Big Day In this year. If your young person would like to bring any props or carnival themed costumes, they are more than welcome to. 
• Toiletries, sun cream, hat and sunglasses 
• A water bottle 
• Small light up alarm clock or watch (young people will not have their phones overnight) 
• Sports equipment, games, musical instruments for free time (please note these are brought at your own risk) 
• Cash or card for the tuck shop and bookstall

PLEASE DO NOT include any snacks that contain nuts as we have others attending who have severe nut allergies.

Photographs and social media

We are hoping to take some general photos or videos during the week that may be used for publicity, uploaded on our website or shared on social media sites.

If you have particular concerns about social media, photographs or publicity, please inform us by emailing admin@contagious.org.uk.

Mobile Phone policy

Young people can bring a mobile to Contagious but this must be handed to their leader at registration. Young people will be able to get their phones at lunchtime each day. They will have their phones from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. If you need to get in touch with your child then contact Sophie and we can arrange something.

MEDICAL, Pastoral and Dietary Information

If you wish to update anything less than six weeks before the conference please email admin@contagious.org.uk. This is because we often pull the relevant information for each Conference from the booking website around six weeks before the conference, and by emailing us we can make sure that the necessary people are notified.

FAQs

What does a typical day look like?

The day starts with wake up followed by a filling breakfast. We then go into our morning meeting together. This meeting includes singing, activities and challenges, and teaching from one of the leaders. After the morning meeting there will be a short break followed by some time in SUS (small) groups going through part of the Bible together. After SUS we will have our lunch and then go into afternoon activities. The activities are a mix of all-together activities (such as water games, wide games and inflatables) and option activities (sports, craft, alternative). After dinner, there is another meeting similar to the morning meeting, followed by an evening activity (these have included junk heap challenges, wide games, quizzes and film nights) before bed.

How are young people kept safe at Contagious?

How can I be praying for Contagious? 

We would love it if you could be praying for us throughout the week! It is only through God’s word applied to the hearts of the young people through the Holy Spirit’s work that lives are changed. Please be praying for faithful teaching and for hearts opened to the good news of the gospel. For particular points for prayer check out our dedicated page.

What is being taught at Contagious this year?

This summer we’ll be seeking the Way of Wisdom in the book of Proverbs, and see how this points us to the fact that it is only through union with Christ that true wisdom can be found.

Proverbs invites us to listen to the words of wisdom from a father to his son, written to encourage youth to grow in wisdom. This summer we want to see lives shaped and changed as we listen to God’s wisdom for all of life. Proverbs is both poetic and practical. It is not just a series of moral sayings but is a story that is filled with rich truths and points us forward to Christ.
